Xinyu Liu

PhD Student, 2020 – Present

Xinyu Liu graduated Master of Chemistry from the University of St Andrews (2016-2020). During the last year of her degree, she joined Professor John Irvine’s research group as a project student, working on the project “Waste to Energy”. In this project, she focused on solution synthesis of anode material lanthanum strontium titanium ferrite and applying it in a solid oxide fuel cell system with the potential to operate with solid waste as fuel.

From September 2020, she started her PhD study in the school of chemistry, supervised by Professor John Irvine. Her current research topic focuses on the further development of waste to energy fuel cell systems. The emphasis of this project is to optimise the electrodes of direct carbon fuel cell to covert solid waste directly into electricity.
