Candice Mitchell
Research Manager & PA to Prof. John T S Irvine, 2012 – Present
Candice Mitchell is the Research Manager and Personal Assistant to Professor John Irvine. Having joined the University of St Andrews in 2004 after many years’ service with the Ministry of Defence, she initially worked with Residential and Business Services and then took up post working at the Research Grants Finance Office specialising in Post Award Management. In 2011 Candice moved to the School of Physics & Astronomy as a Programme Grant Administrator, in this role she was able to work more closely with the research team whilst supporting them with the programme grant finances and administration. In 2012 Candice graduated from the University of St Andrews with a BSc General after studying on the evening degree course and at the end of the year joined Professor Irvine’s group. Candice was awarded a MSc in Sustainable Aquaculture at the University of St Andrews in June 2017.
Professor Irvine’s portfolio of awards totals approximately £10 million and supports a large group of 52 Researchers and Students, Candice manages the day to day running of the awards, including reconciliation of awards, reporting and administrative support to John and the group.
