Katherine Bateman

Project Co-ordinator — AWE Centre of Excellence, University of St Andrews, 2025 – present

Katy graduated with a BSc in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews in 2020, before completing a research master’s in Manfred Buck’s group on “Silver Nanostructures via Coordination-Controlled Electrodeposition.” She went on to undertake a PhD in the Irvine Group, in collaboration with AWE, focusing on sodium thermal batteries, and graduated in December 2025. Katy now works as a Project Coordinator for one of AWE’s Centres of Excellence, based at the University of St Andrews under the supervision of Professor John Irvine.
