Impedance Spectroscopy
About the Project
This project seeks to find suitable materials to replace lead dielectrics in lightning arrestors. Various candidate oxides will be scoped based on literature and using crystal chemical principles. These will be synthesised by solid-state synthesis and characterised in terms of structure and stability. Ceramic samples will be prepared to allow basic electrical characterisation.
The most promising materials will be optimised in terms of composition and morphology and performance matched against application demands.
The project involves basic solid-state chemistry and materials science and will rely heavily on impedance spectroscopy.
