Chinnasamy Murugesan

PhD Student, 2020 – Present

Chinnasamy Murugesan received his masters in Chemistry from Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science affiliated to Bharathiar University (India) in 2014. Since 2016, he has been working as a research assistant in the Materials Research Centre, Indian Institute of Science (IISc). His research focused on synthesis and characterization of positive electrode materials for Na, K-ion batteries and bifunctional electrocatalyst for metal-air batteries.

Chinnasamy started his PhD under the supervision of Professor John Irvine in 2020, and he commences on the NEXGENNA project supported by the Faraday Institution. His project focuses on development, fabrication and testing of full cell Na-ion batteries. This involves synthesis and characterization of both positive and negative electrode materials. These will then be assembled into Swagelok batteries and tested. Subsequently, they will be made into pouch cell batteries.
