Research Manager & PA to Prof. John T S Irvine CBE, 2012 – Present
Candice Mitchell is the Research Manager and Personal Assistant to Professor John Irvine . Having joined the University of St Andrews in 2004 after many years’ service with the Ministry of Defence, she initially worked with Residential and Business Services and then took up post working at the Research Grants Finance Office specialising in Post Award Management in 2005. In 2012 Candice graduated from the University of St Andrews with a BSc General after studying on the evening degree course and at the end of the year joined Professor Irvine’s group as Research Manager and personal Assistant to Professor Irvine. Candice was awarded a MSc in Sustainable Aquaculture at the University of St Andrews in June 2017 and continues to support John and a diverse group of researchers in the area of Energy Materials.
Professor Irvine’s portfolio of awards totals approximately £26 million and supports a large group of over 60 researchers and students, Candice manages the day to day running of the awards, including reconciliation of financial reporting, new applications for research funding and administrative support to John and the group.
