Shuangbin Li is a joint CSC PhD student in Professor John Irvine’s group. Shuangbin joins the group from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics. His research focuses on hybrid direct carbon fuel cells (HDCFC). In this study, we seek to improve electrochemical performance by decreasing polarisation losses associated with fuel oxidation at intermediate temperature. The major development is to investigate alternative solid oxide structure for better ionic conductivity and stability of molten carbonates, developing anode materials and optimising cell design for higher power densities.
