Hirepan’s Ph. D. project concerns the search for novel oxide ion conductors. In an effort to find and develop new materials that can be used as electrolytes in intermediate temperature solid oxides fuel cells; a new family of ionic conductors based on the cuspidine structure has recently been proposed as promising candidates for electrolytes in this kind of electrochemical devices. In this sense, the aim of his project is to contribute to a better understanding of the relationships between transport and structural properties of oxides with a cuspidine structure.
